Nonviolent Crisis Intervetion Training
Mr. Cuff and I spent the day at BLAST IU17 learning how to identify and difuse problems and issues that arise here at Schick. We learned verbal techniques to de-escalate behavior and to prevent acting-out behavior. The purpose for the training is to provide the best possible Care, Welfare, Safety and Security for everyone involved in our school.
ALTHOUGH....it could be perceived that he is using the "Pee-Eww Response to the Stinky Shirt Sniff..."
Here, Mr. Cuff demonstrates how he would do the One-hand Wrist Grab Release.
Here, I'm pretty sure he's doing the Bite Release which uses the parasympathetic response as an aide.ALTHOUGH....it could be perceived that he is using the "Pee-Eww Response to the Stinky Shirt Sniff..."

Where do we begin...?
We had a very restful holiday break? Happy New Year.
Boy, it has been a cold month...?
We've been healthy and we've been sick...
Let's just say we're busy. Here is a short photo explaination of the past month....
It took us a while to find the perfect treat for our puppy, Brody. Needless to say, it took some coaxing to convince Char that he didn't need this big of a treat...we got out of the pet store with one small bone and a water bowl...
This week we've been sick.

The hospital finally knocked down our "old" house on Rural Avenue. Char and I got some bricks to use for our future fire pit. We love toasting marshmellows in the summer. Here she is (with safety glasses on) knocking some of the mortar off of the blocks.
Char's buddy Teagan had a birthday and Char got to play where the big girls take tumbling.
Chef Greevy made her own tacos (and our's too!!!).
We went to the PSU v. Wisconsin basketball game and loved sitting up high, but kept looking for the Nittany Lion. We love him (from a distance).
This week we've been sick.

All-Kindergarten Rooms...
by Alexa and Chanelle
5th Grade
Do you want to know what's happening in Kindergarten? Well, they are making gingerbread houses and they are putting colorful decorations and lots of candy on them. They even got to eat the candy too. It was cool. That's what's happening in Kindergarten.

Schick Music Rocks!!!
What wonderful time of the year here. Our musician
were able to showcase their talents to their entire school and then
to their parent during an evening presentation.
Well done, Mrs. Leidhecker and Miss Kilmer.
Charley on Major
Over Thanksgiving we reached another milestone...Char "rode" Major.
Although a little scared, she toughed through it and had a great time.
Me? Not being a total horse person, my milestone was feeding the
horse carrots out of my hand...(boy, that sounds wimpy!!!).
